Abstract
The goal of this project is to collect samples from both remote and populated areas in order to show the full impact that microplastics are having on the world around us and to use this data to drive change in policy through community education. Our research project includes multiple phases, beginning with sample collection in remote and populated areas across the country including but not limited to the Rocky Mountain National Park, Northern Michigan water sheds and northern Appalachia followed by processing, analysis and bioaccumulation calculations to compile a set of data to be used for the latter phases of the project.
