Abstract

Hardin county is considered a women’s healthcare desert, with zero OBGYNs in the entire county and limited resources for healthcare. Besides lack of access to care, there is also limited access to healthy foods, education, secure housing, health insurance, prescriptions and other social determinants of health. In this project, I will aim to address these gaps by creating educational flyers that inform patients of preventative services recommended by age. These flyers will also have information about what the preventative health service is as well as where it can be found in Hardin county or nearby areas. I will distribute these pamphlets both on and off campus at churches, libraries, schools, and businesses with the hopes to reach as many people as possible. By opening the door to have conversations about healthcare access and the heath needs of women in Hardin county, I hope to promote women’s health and wellness.
