Abstract
There are significant links to prolonged stress and a wide range of mental health diagnoses, such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. This holds true, especially in the field of nursing, related to occupational stress and overall stress. The purpose of this project is to analyze how effective a stress management technique, such as yoga is among intensive care unit nurses. This will be a quasi-experimental study. A sample of 100 nurses who volunteered from different intensive care units at OSU Wexner Medical Center, will include 10 from pediatric ICU, 8 from neonatal ICU, 25 from cardiac ICU, 15 from neurological ICU, 30 from surgical ICU and 12 from medical ICU. Participants will complete the DASS, PSS, OSI, FSS before the start of intervention, 4 weeks into classes and after completion of 8 weeks of classes. Yoga classes used as a stress reduction method are effective in decreasing the overall stress of nurses and their occupational stress.
