Abstract
As the Musical Theatre Class of 2021 prepares to enter the arts industry, networking and building connections is an important part of establishing a successful career as a performer. The graduating seniors are putting together a showcase to present the best of their performance material to agents and industry professionals in Columbus, OH. In addition to preparing my material, I have been working with my advisor as Assistant Director on this project. The experience has given me a deeper understanding of the actor's self-marketing process. My research will include detailed notes of our workshop sessions, chronicling each student's process of material selection, as well as a comprehensive book of the selected material, organized by student. Through these documents, I hope to shed some light on the level of work, commitment, and self-awareness it takes to navigate the performing arts industry.
