Abstract

Diana Garlough, assistant professor of education and director of the Center for Teacher Education, and Bob Carrothers, associate professor of sociology and chair of the Department of Psychology & Sociology discuss their joint project involving the use of multi-ethnic/multi-racial texts to foster classroom discussions to discover and honor diversity in the classroom community in which teachers and students develop cultural understanding with those with whom they do not share frames of reference.
